盾牌中的一個城堡和三個塔，象徵著政府的三個分支（行政，立法和司法）。
盾牌中城堡下的花朵，是誰都看不出來的白玫瑰花。
白玫瑰花是為了當時1927年，英國約克公爵離開前澳大利亞聯邦舊國會的紀念標誌。約克公爵後來被加冕為英王喬治六世。

盾牌最下方的金帶上的銘文是“為皇后，法律和人民”，這句話；不是來自皇室或官方，而是一個祖籍蘇格蘭，居住在太河附近的一戶民家，在所捐贈的古董物件上的座右銘。
